...said no one ever, except this dealer. Those aren’t my words, but rather the opening words in the dealer description of this 2011 WRX for sale. I had to read it 5 times to make sure I read it correctly. The dealer description also includes 2 footnotes that don’t seem to footnote to anything.

I saw a Kia print advertising an Accent with a RWD V8 HEMI.

I don’t think 25mpg hwy would ever be considered a gas sipper.

it’s actually pretty bad when you consider that it’s a 2.5L 4cyl.

I agree, but 25 mpgs would be great for me in my vehicle! 2.2L I-4...

The thought of a V8 in my Accent makes me happy. I wonder if anyone actually believed that...

They’re bad on gas, it’s no secret. I believe 17 city, to boot.

Although they are AWD, and powerful, and 2.5L is a really big 4-banger these days.

I used to get around 24 mpg in mine (my figures, not the in-car read out), but after I switched tires I’m down to about 23 mpg now. That’s not terrible since I spend a lot of time in crappy traffic. On the open road I can surpass 25 mpg pretty easily. Once you get over 70 mpg though, the MPG starts dropping somewhat quickly.

When I think about it, that description sounds like a Lexus SC430. I suppose it could be a Corvette or Mustang GT description, too. It got me thinking about what’s Auto, V8, Convertible, and would be old enough where dealers and ad-men would boast about a CD Changer and MP3 Player. Leather would suggest it’s reasonably upmarket.

It appears my foot has more lead. I’m averaging 19.2 mpg in mine. One the open road, I’m doing well to hit 24 mpg. My record is 36.8 mpg. It was set while in a caravan of cars going to a boy scout camp. We were limited to the speed of the truck pulling the trailer.

Don’t forget cruise control, you’re in the lap of luxury.

I’d have to try to get down to 19. I’ve never had a tank under 20. Although when commuting I do make efforts to increase MPG with my driving, but I don’t use any crazy hyper-miling tactics or anything.

The road to/from my house is a 2-mile flat stretch of 40 MPH, so that may be padding my figures, although even that backs up some days.

I have a mix of surface street and freeway driving with 15 to 23 stop signs or lights on the way to work, depending on the route I take. My usual route is has 18.

My daily routine takes me home on a different route which has more miles of freeway driving, usually over 70 mph. The WRX gets into the turbo in fifth around 70, so keeping it at 65 makes a big difference in mileage.

I too find that anything over 70 quickly deteriorates MPG due to the turbo.

What just happened? Two people discussing something over the internet actually agreed!?!

I’m flabbergasted. :)
